Joan received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Moravian College and worked for several years as an accountant. She then chose to leave her job to devote time to raising her family. Joan became involved in many volunteer activities including the Bethlehem Junior Women’s Club, East Penn School District Parent Advisory Council, District Steering Committee co-chair, and PTA President. It was during that time when Joan realized her true passion and life’s calling lie in helping others. In 1997, she joined New Vitae Wellness and Recovery in the Admissions Department. In 2015, recognizing the value Joan brought to New Vitae, she was promoted to Director, Project Management. In addition to retaining some of her previous duties, her new role encompasses being involved with a wide variety of special projects including data collection for outcome studies as well as other statistical projects to assist the organization in establishing more informed practices. Joan has served on the Board of Directors of NAMI Lehigh Valley for over eight years and is currently the Board Treasurer. She is a licensed Notary Public and a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries. She lives in Emmaus, PA with her husband and cats. They have two adult children. In her leisure time, Joan enjoys a variety of fitness activities, baking, and reading.
