Stand Down for Veterans Expo

January 29, 2016

On January 21, 2016, New Vitae Wellness and Recovery was proud to participate in the Stand Down for Veterans Expo in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  The event provided the opportunity for Veterans to collect resources and information from local service providers while enjoying the chance to meet and support each other.

New Vitae Wellness and Recovery provided veterans and other attendees with information on our legislative appropriation through the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.  The funds associated with our award are currently providing supports for veterans who are encountering symptoms related to post-traumatic stress and co-occurring disorders.  One of the highlights of the event was seeing many of the attending veterans engage with staff and canines from a therapeutic dog rescue dedicated to serving veterans.  Other participants reported feeling pleased to be able to associate with additional veteran support networks to grow their community contacts.

Overall, the event was well received, with many Veterans, families, and allies in attendance.  While this was the first year for the event, this expo is being planned yearly in order to increase veteran options and peer to peer connections.  It was a fantastic opportunity and New Vitae Wellness and Recovery hopes to participate on a regular basis!
