New Vitae Employee Honored for Toys for Tots Service

December 11, 2018

New Vitae Wellness and Recovery wishes to recognize and congratulate Kevin Miller, BS, Facilities Manager for Pathways, the Recovery Center, and Philadelphia, for his outstanding service for the Bucks County Toys for Tots Program.  As the coordinator for the region, Kevin has volunteered his time for over twenty-five years and recently received special appreciation from the Marine Corps, who sponsor the program across America.  As a retired Marine, Kevin understands the meaning of dedication, teamwork, and selflessness and applies these characteristics both in his volunteer work as well as his day-to-day work at New Vitae.

When asked about his experiences with the Toys for Tots campaign, Kevin recalls some of his earliest memories of donating used toys with his father and watching servicemen repair the gifts in time for re-gifting.  Upon moving to Bucks County as an adult, he noted a need to develop the program to its current service levels, requiring the time of about 45 volunteers and the donations of 256 local businesses.  Requests from families increase each year, with around 7400 children receiving 4 or 5 toys for 2018.  Kevin expects to collect over 31,000 toys this year.  Being a father of 4, he understands the desire to have toys for children waiting under the tree and reports that he will continue to dedicate his time and effort until one of his two sons (both Marines) take over as coordinator of the area.

Our employees have been proud to support the Toys for Tots program over the course of several years.  For 2018, New Vitae was able to collect over 40 toys for less fortunate children in our area.  Kevin collected all of these donations on December 10th to have enough time to ensure delivery to children in need for the holidays.  We are so proud to be able to support Kevin’s efforts!

Thank you to Kevin and to all of our employees for their thoughtfulness and generosity over the holidays as well as throughout the rest of the year.  We look forward to continuing to serve as a donation site for Toys for Tots!

"As a staff member, I have learned a lot about mental health and I have witnessed many residents transform from a place of fear and paranoia to becoming outgoing, secure, content and able to hold a job in the community and much more.”
