Generation Found Film Screening

Judith O. Yanacek, President and CEO of New Vitae Wellness and Recovery, and other members of the Lehigh Valley Recovery High School Task Force hosted a screening of the film Generation Found on March 27th at the SteelStacks Theaters in Bethlehem.  The documentary inspires viewers to unite and support those in recovery from addiction pursue educational goals.    

Various task force members and those associated with the film were present to discuss the documentary's message.  Singer and song writer Matt Butler, who composed the film's theme song 'Just One,' was on hand for a live performance.  Task force member Donna Jacobsen provided attendees with information on the status of the recovery high school task force, and vision and mission statements.  Donna also introduced other panel members, including Dr. Mary Anne Wright, superintendent from Northwestern Lehigh School District, who spoke about her reaction to the film, her personal experience with addictions in her family, and the district's experience with those students challenged with addictive behaviors.  Heather Morningstar, Task Force member and Principal of Salisbury High School, gave her reaction to the film and shared her interest in bringing recovery options to students in her school.  Dr. Brooke Tesche, Task Force Member and Deputy Superintendent of Allentown Diocese, shared the vision of the recovery high school with passion and invited audience members to join the cause.  Another task force member, Bill Roberts, spoke about his family's experiences with recovery and his exploration of Alternative Peer Groups.

The evening served as a reminder of the challenges of students who experience addictions and was a step to further the cause of a recovery high school in the Lehigh Valley.  Approximately 100 people viewed the film and then participated in discussion focused on the challenges associated with addictions.
