Cape May Trip 2017

August 24, 2017

We have fantastic memories from 2017's amazing trip to Cape May, New Jersey!

This year, almost 40 residents and staff participated in the fun for our 33rd Annual Cape May Trip.  We all enjoyed the sun, sand, and local attractions from June 11th through the 16th.  Many who attended recalled the jokes and great times from years past, but several were taking their first shore trip with us!  We were also very happy to be able to award multiple scholarships for a number of residents to attend and share in the fun!

Upon arriving at the Inn of Cape May, hotel owner Beth Eastman and her staff made us feel welcome.  Ms. Eastman recalled memories of past visits, stating that she looks forward to our check in each year.  While at the beach, we agreed that the water was cold but many braved it for a brisk swim!

Other highlights of the trip were the Sunset Dolphin Watch Boat trip, the Cape May Zoo, visiting the sunken ship to watch the sunset at Sunset Beach, and lunch on the dock at the Lobster House Wharf.  Other participants talked excitedly about the cookout at the lighthouse, beach crafts, mini-golf tournament, and having fun at the pool.  We also enjoyed morning beach walks, the theater, excursions to Wildwood and Atlantic City, and a historic trolley ride through Victorian Cape May.  We ended most days relaxing and enjoying being together on the rockers of the front porch of the Inn of Cape May.

Residents and staff are counting down the days until next year's trip, scheduled to begin on June 10th, 2018!  Until then, we'll be keeping photos here for when the days start getting cold!

"Mount Trexler Manor has given me the help and support I needed. They have made me feel safe when I haven’t in the past. I have been able to stay out of the hospital."
